Pathway to Your Best Self
0We all have an inner vision of who we want to be. We have personal goals and inner commitments that lead us to challenge our Selves to improve our communication styles, increase our physical fitness, increase our level of communication with others and also within our Self, follow a healthy diet plan etc. We wish to hold our Selves in the highest level of commitment to excellence; mentally and physically.
Generally, we have the ‘end product’ of our very best Self clearly in mind. While currently we may ‘see ourselves’ as standing in position A (our start point) we are also able to ‘see ourself’ as needing to get to position Z (our end product). While it is quite easy to see where we ARE and usually equally as easy to visualize where we WOULD LIKE TO BE – it is the actionable ‘to do’ steps that seem … a little vague.
A – Z is a journey. How do we get there?
We KNOW the things we wish to learn, change and ‘tweak’ to be our best Self. We can even make a list of some of these items and cross them off like a ‘to-do’ list as we go along so we can SEE the healthy decisions and the PROGRESS we are making. These might include learning some new activities, joining a sports team or a running group or a yoga centre (or all 3 – why not?), signing up for personal coaching, attending workshops or seminars in areas that you are curious about. Whatever the case may be, this process GROWS a part of you that wants to reach out of the box and LEARN more, GROW more, KNOW MORE! Go for it! We are talking about ACTION STEPS HERE, not just ‘paying lip service’. This is a year where ‘Actions speak louder than words’ so if you are being drawn to join a group, learn a new skill or reach out of your comfort zone – DO IT. Period.
We also KNOW what we need to LOSE in order to make our transformation to our best Self happen more quickly and more completely. These things might include losing weight, losing attitude(s), losing negative self talk or even losing a relationship (or two) that holds you back on some level. KNOW what you might have to LOSE in order to GAIN a new and better way of living. Is there something you FEEL you might have to LOSE but you are not ready to do so? LOSE it for the time being….check back after a bit and see what you gained. Did you gain anything? Keep your distance from this for now, see how much more you can gain by doing so. Did you gain ALOT? Great! Lose it for good! Did you not gain anything at all? Well then, welcome it back and have another hard look at some other factors in your world to see if they might fall into this category.
Most importantly on this pathway to your best Self –
Allow your Self the TIME for the process of transformation to take hold, to grow, to flourish!
So often, the first steps …. and then THE NEXT STEPS….can be difficult and challenging and because they are so difficult, we expect a PAYBACK for our effort. NOW.
I hear you! This is totally natural. Sometimes we DO SEE a payback right off the bat however sometimes this payback or the initial results can seem rather PUNY compared to the HERCULEAN effort we are making in order to turn this ship around and that? …can dampen our spirits. Not seeing an immediate and/or consistent payback for our efforts (and efforts and efforts) can diminish our sense of resolve to a point where we start to let things S – L – I – D – E ! … and when our game plan starts to slide it can be a slippery slope to where we can find our Self — right back at the beginning in a very short while.
STAY THE COURSE!! You are on your PATH to your BEST SELF; mentally and physically.
You have listened to your inner voice, challenged your Self forward, built a game plan, partnered with like-minded individuals and moment by moment you are getting there. In fact, you are MORE than on your way – you are stepping forward boldly into your best Self and – it FEELS GREAT! KEEP GOING!
