A couple of years ago I was all ready to pack in my business. I’d just turned 60, had some unresolved health issues and I’d decided I’d had enough.
Fast forward to today, and not only have I got my mojo back, but I’m on a roll – doing what I love and delegating what I don’t.
What caused this turnaround? Several things:
Not the kind you are conjuring up, but we found out what was wrong with me and once I got on the right medication, I was back on track.
I lost a fair amount of weight, and with the workouts and changed diet, feel so much better. I have more energy.
I stopped looking at 60 as being my time to retire. It is just a number and I wasn’t ready to go out to pasture.
I met someone who inspired me and who saw and helped me realize my own potential. So funny to write that when that’s what I try to do for other women. She drives me to step outside of my comfort zone and aim higher.
I joined a mastermind group where I have connected with like-minded women and where I have to be accountable for what I have said I will do.
I am no longer the owner of two properties and so I can focus my time and energies on just running one home, instead of two. The move has also made us declutter and remove excess stuff out of our lives.
Time for me
Next month I am starting art classes – a long time dream – and it feels good to be doing something fun that is just for me.
So as you reflect on anti-aging, you may want to take a leaf out of my book, because from where I sit, it is working. I mean – I got mistaken, again, for someone under 55, by the Shoppers Drug Mart assistant when I asked for my seniors’ discount. So I must be doing something right. Just saying…
