The Simplicities of Life
0May long weekend or May Run as it is commonly know in Norther Ontario, usually marks the beginning of cottage season. My husband and I spent the long weekend like we usually do, at our small cottage by the lake.
I use the word cottage quit loosely, it is more of a shack than a cottage with none of the essential amenities of every day life. We have no indoor plumbing and the shack is heated by a very inefficient wood burning fireplace, and it was cold this weekend!
Over the weekend I took some time to reflect on wellness, balance and the fact that sometimes, in order to strike that right balance, we need to get away from it all.
This is how my husband and I spend most of our weekends during cottage season. There is something rejuvenating about going to sleep to the melody of the loon calls and waking to enjoy a coffee on the dock with the signing birds.
I lead a very active lifestyle and have a demanding career. In the hustle and bustle of it all, it is far too easy to forget the beauty of the simplicities of life.
Don’t forget, amongst all of your planning and organizing, to take the time to stop and feel the grass on your bare feet, to hear the whisper of a calm breeze, to see the sparkle of the sun on a wavy lake.
Enjoy the simplicities of life and you will be more energized to LIVE life at its fullest.
