This is an important consideration when contemplating whether to eat out, as choosing to be disciplined ‘weighs’ in personal growth while regret weighs in unwanted pounds.
This evening I went out for dinner to celebrate a family member’s birthday. I always bring my own meals to restaurants or events with food that does not fit my meal plan, or eat before going out to them. This is important to me because the temporary satisfaction from these types of foods never outweighs the feeling of growth and accomplishment that comes with overcoming temptations. Similarly, this applies to many other situations in life like school, relationships, or in the workplace.
I hear a lot of people say that since they had to go to a certain event or location they “had no choice” but to make unhealthy choices. If it is a priority for you to get in shape, it is almost always possible to stay on track with your diet regardless of the situation you are faced with. The key to being successful with any diet or fitness goal is planning ahead to make sure you are on the right track. Sometimes this can even mean staying up until midnight preparing meals for the next day! Lack of preparation is what leads to bad health choices and decisions. Take control of your life, plan ahead and, most importantly, stay disciplined and work towards your goals. Don’t let small temporary distractions get in the way of completing lifetime goals.
Stay healthy my friends!
