So waking up today, like many, was coffee on your mind?
So many times we are sleep deprived and stressed out with our relationship with life in general that we cannot function on even a general level of efficiency. We start a new “diet” and then wonder why, when even a small dis-stressor comes into our field, we can’t maintain the meals, the workouts or even manage to stay awake in the evening long enough to eat that last meal that they say we should not eat after 6pm!
When one contemplates our state of mind here on this earth as ones relationship with life (relaxed and at ease or distressed and at odds with that life) we can start to understand why it is so difficult for some to achieve a state of balance and their inability to look and feel just how they think they should if they just didn’t have so much “going on” with their job, their family life and/or everything in between. As a side note, did you know that scientists have studied and revealed that at least 95% of our thoughts are negative, repetitive and serve no purpose at all but to make us anxious and not at ease?
Distressed mindsets are the norm and most tend to be in search of a wonder pill or program that will make them part of that seemingly elite group of people that have it together, look great, feel great and have everything they need in life to function properly.
“Eric, this is all well and good, but come on, get to the good stuff! How do I start with the weightloss?”
o.k. ok, I’ll give you a tidbit to keep you on track with the hope that there is some real “meat” to this second part of what I can tell is going to be a multi-part series!
Just what is “The pregnenolone Steal?” This, dear friends is a not so well known “issue” that relates completely to all this “flow”, anti-anxiety and removal of stress stuff we have been looking at in the first article and now continuing with in this, the second part.
Please note, this can seem a bit complicated but in all reality, it is really quite simple.
A persons “fight or flight” response gets activated by stressful events or what each person “PERCEIVES” as a dangerous situation in their mind. This can be as simple as remembering you forgot to take the garbage out and the accompanying thought that perhaps your spouse will be on the warpath about it when you arrive home! The HPA axis becomes activated and one of the results is a release of the stress hormone Cortisol from the adrenal glands! Just how does the body produce a large amount of cortisol? Well, at the core of it, we can say that it STEALS it! When we become stressed, the aforementioned chain of events happens, and to produce cortisol in the necessary amounts, the body shuts off the production of almost all other hormones from the main “building block” hormone we know as “pregnenolone” from which almost all other hormones are produced!
“Wow Eric, so your telling me when I get stressed, that almost my entire hormonal production basically shuts down so that my body can deal with the stress by flooding my body with cortisol at the expense of all my other wonderful hormones that direct the flow of signals to all of my cells in various ways?”
Yes, dear reader, that is it in a nutshell. So this leads us to a big question! Just what can a “healthy” diet or a magic pill do for weightloss/health and wellness if our very own body cannot, and will not produce the majority of the hormones we need to elicit the proper response (fat storage, release etc.?)
Lets say for a moment that you have that idea that “gutting it out” aka, will power will prevail and you can starve yourself for the required amount of time and bear all the other symptoms that appear as your body degrades through lack of hormonal supply due to your HPA axis being activated on a chronic level, not only from your mental processes causing anxiety, but now also from your physical body being in a state of dis-stress through lack of proper cell signalling and hormonal balance!
You will lose weight, but you definitely won’t feel great, and eventually, the 2,000 bit per second processor called your conscious mind (or that part of the brain you know as “ME”) will give way to the basic programming of the massive supercomputer you can’t hear called your subconscious mind. That one is 4,000,000,000 (yes, billion) bits per second and will eventually overwhelm even the most dogged “will powered ” practitioner.
The need to relieve ourselves of Negative stress in our lives is most likely the spot that people do NOT start at. Instead, most begin to focus on physical goals and ignore the almost too obvious mental conditioning, time management and anxiety relief that needs to be implemented first or in a complementary manner so that their already overwhelmed mind and physiology can function properly and allow for the full comprehension and assimilation of the information and practices to follow!
Is it becoming clear that cookie cutter programs are not the answer? We will get into that as we continue this series of articles that will start us focusing on ourselves as an individual and allow us to begin the incremental changes that at first may seem like nothing, but over time, one built on the other, allow each of us to fully realise what we are capable of. It all starts with learning to use the tools available to us to instigate this change!
Well…that turned into the usual brain dump of info and this author will do his very best to hold off on the next article so that you can absorb this information and also comment on it and ask questions if you so desire. In this manner, the next one will “flow out” and be full of answers that are relevant to what you are needing to know.
Until next time, slow down, contemplate and perhaps even meditate on what it is you want to change in your life.
