How to Naturally Enhance Your Sexual Function

There are many ways to promote a healthy prostate. According to research, men should consume vegetables and fruits that contain vitamins, carotenoids, and lycopene. These include tomatoes, broccoli, and cauliflower.

Drugs that inhibit 5-alpha reductase activity, which blocks the production of dihydrotestosterone (DHT) can also harm your prostate health. It is advisable to stay away from these drugs, as they can also cause weight gain, urinating problems, and breast enlargement.

Health experts like Dr. Rudy Moerck believe that, rather than using drugs, natural supplements like saw palmetto have a positive effect on prostate or overall men’s health, especially when combined with pumpkin seed or lycopene. Antioxidants are also another choice.

Aside from these, experts recommend using physical intimacy to promote prostate health, as this activity helps exercise your prostate directly. It can also prevent the reabsorption of sperms and fluids by your body, which can lead to other health problems.

The Benefits of a Healthy Sex Life

Having a healthy sex life will not only support a healthy prostate but can also help men stay physically and emotionally healthy. According to research, sex can support your immune system, help regulate blood pressure and flow, help reduce LDL or “bad” cholesterol, and aid in building muscle.

Research also states that sex can help reduce stress because of its calming effect. It increases the release of endorphins or “feel-good” hormones, as well as oxytocin or the “love hormone.” Plus, it helps build self-esteem and improves the intimacy of your relationship.

However, some men are unable to perform well in bed. Because of this, they turn to sexual enhancement drugs to improve their libido.

Why Sexual Enhancement Drugs Are Anything but Helpful

Many men use Viagra and other drugs in order to enhance their sexual performance. Viagra functions by increasing nitric oxide production, which helps relax blood vessels. This increases the blood flow to the penis. Viagra and similar drugs inhibit phosphodiesterase, which can help retain erections and helps inhibit a molecule called cyclic guanosine monophosphate that can contribute to poor erectile function.

However, there are serious side effects linked to the use of Viagra, such as a higher risk of heart problems and fertility problems. At the same time, the initial erection still needs to be triggered psychologically. Without this, sexual potency pills have no effect.

Instead of relying on drugs, you need to take note that sexuality is tied to your mind. Your libido will be affected if you are under stress, are feeling anxiety and fear, or have problems with communication. You need to avoid all of these negatives by addressing your emotional baggage, through techniques like exercise, meditation, and even journaling.

Another possible cause of sexual problems is an unhealthy lifestyle. Drugs can only address symptoms of poor sexual function, not the cause. Instead of turning to medications, lessen your sugar consumption. Having high levels of sugar can harm your libido by turning off the gene that controls your sex hormones.

In addition to prioritizing stress management and adjusting your diet, you can also try these strategies to improve your libido and sex life:

  1. Have an active lifestyle – According to studies, men who exercise regularly had better sex lives than those who didn’t. If you do incorporate exercise into your lifestyle, make sure you don’t just focus on aerobics and strength training. Be sure to include core exercises, high-intensity interval training, and stretching as well.
  2. Optimize your diet with whole, organic foods – Avoid processed food altogether. Many of today’s commercial food products contain gender-bending chemicals that can inhibit your sexual function. Consume only whole, organic foods as these a free of endocrine-disrupting toxins and supply you with essential nutrients.
  3. Optimize your vitamin D levels – Vitamin D is a steroid hormone that contributes to the development of healthy sperm cells and production of testosterone. The best way to optimize your vitamin D levels is through safe sunlight exposure. If you live in a region where sunlight is scarce, you can use a safe tanning bed or take a vitamin D supplement. Just make sure that to have your levels tested with a 25(OH)D or 25-hydroxyvitamin D test while supplementing with vitamin D. Aim to keep your levels between 50 and 70 ng/mL.

You may also consider taking certain supplements, such as choline and vitamin B5. These two nutrients positively affect the neurotransmitter that triggers sexual messages in both men and women.
